We can only save animals that we have foster homes lined up for, since we are a foster-based rescue. We do not have a shelter or building at this time. Becoming a foster parent allows the animals we save to experience and get accustomed to living in a loving home environment before going to their permanent home(s). Fostering an animal, and giving them a temporary, safe place to land, while ASAP actively searches for a suitable permanent home, is one of the most rewarding experiences. Fostering sets the animal up for success in their permanent home.
We love and appreciate our foster parents and could not do the life-saving work that we do without them. Fostering is voluntary. You will not be financially compensated for fostering one of our animals, but ASAP will provide food, supplies and cover any costs for ASAP-approved medical care and grooming that your foster pet may need.
FOSTER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 21yo
- A meet & greet and home visit with all household members and existing pets in the home will be required prior to an animal being placed into a foster home (the meet & greet and home visit can both be done in the same visit).
- Once you are an established foster parent with ASAP Rescue, we will not need to do a second home visit or meet & greet with future animals that you want to foster).
Please be as honest as possible when answering the questions in your application. Checking “yes” or “no” to any of these questions will not automatically qualify or disqualify you from becoming an ASAP foster parent. The reason we ask so many questions is because we are a foster-based rescue and want to ensure that we set you up with an animal that will blend nicely into your home and lifestyle.

WHAT IF A FOSTER PARENT DECIDES TO ADOPT THE ANIMAL THEY’RE FOSTERING?
Should the foster parent decide they want to adopt the pet they are fostering, the foster parent will be given preference over other applicants when ASAP is considering permanent home placement for one of our animals.
The foster parent will need to complete an adoption application for the animal they want to adopt.
If the adoption application is approved, the next step is signing the adoption contract and paying the adoption fee.
